I woke up early and while Eli and Jeff were still snoozing in bed, I headed off to Wisconsin Rapids for Tony's games.
Marshfield Inferno U18 vs Brownsville Bombers U19 Won 2-0
Tony didn't score, but did get a yellow card for slide tackling a guy.
Then around noon they played:
Marshfield Inferno U18 vs MCU Lightning U16 Won 5-0
Tony got 1 goal in this game.
His team was then in the championship game. Marshfield Inferno U18 vs St. Point U16 Won 5-0
Tony had 2 great goal in this game. One was in the first half, a header from a corner pass. The second goal came during a skirmish in front of the goal and Tony came in with a slide kick pushing the ball and himself into the net.--Of course I had decided just to watch the championship game instead of trying to video it. : (
At first I was feeling kind of sorry for the St. Point team as Tony's team had beat them yesterday 10-0 and we were again dominating them. Then I realized this was the same St. Point U16 that beat Eli's U15 team 8-1 in the first game of the season. They hadn't been very humble winners- so I guess what goes around comes around.
The guy in the tie dye shirt was taken off the field in an ambulance during the second game of the day. He had been hit in the back of the head with a very hard kicked ball and wasn't coherent for several minutes. He has a history of other concussions. We were all glad to see him come back to watch the championship game.
Tony said this team communicates better than any other team he has played with. He has also improved tremendously. He was the high scorer on his team with 7 total goals for the tournament. Woo! Yoo! Congratulations Tony- and great games!
Now for Oshkosh on the Water. Eli's team played a very good Oshkosh United White U15 team that had won all of their previous games as well. It was a tough game and they lost 4-1, That actually put both teams in the championship game as well. It was a much tougher game and Marshfield was leading 2-1 at half time. Oshkosh came back to win it 3-2. Their coach said it was one of the best games they have ever played.
Eli got home about 7 pm, went right to bed and slept until noon 2 pm today. Has another game tonight!
